Yeah so I don't plan to pledge this year, but next year when things have settled down, deffinitly. I did however join a club and a lot of people in it were, are in or like me plan to go greek at some point. My roomie is in a sorority and i do things with them, like today was the anual pancake breakfast that raises money for a children's hospital and it was lots of fun...Regardless though, any college people in any extracuricular clubs/organizations? It was a great way for me to meet people and i made a lot of cool people. deffinitly takes away from the stress of homework, but sometimes i find myself too envolved and it just gives me a reason to procrastinate but it's all good lol. If it makes any sense, i've never been more stressed in my life thus far till now, but never have had so much fun too. I love/hate college! lol
Pancake breakfast raising money for a children's hospital? Was it Delta Delta Delta, by any chance?
Anyway, I'm in a sorority and am very active in it. I've held numerous positions and I live in our sorority house. It is seriously the best decision I've ever made. I've made friends for life, it also opens up sooo many opportunities outside of school. For example, I'm interested in event planning, and have been looking for an internship. A women who graduated from my sorority about five years ago now works at an event planning firm, at which I will be interning at next summer. Also, no matter what city you move to after graduation, their is most likely an alumnae group you can join, so you'll have friends wherever you go.
If you have any questions about greek life, feel free to message me! I would recommend it to everyone and I think you should absolutely try rushing.
One more thing I failed to mention. DO keep in mind that joining a sorority is very time consuming. When you are pledging, expect to be at the house every day. Then once you join, you will have weekly meetings and tons and tons of events going on all the time. Then you have greek week or homecoming greek week at which you have a big event everyday, parties every night, and tons of skit rehearsal and sports practices leading up to the week. Sorority IS life. Just something to keep in mind.
Hey! I too am in a sorority!! It has been a lot of fun! I too live in the house this semester. I went greek to meet people and stuff, best decission I have ever made!! :)
